The RIC is a very popular option among all the styles.  A little tip gently sits inside the ear, while the body of the unit sits over the top.  The speaker (also called a receiver) sits inside the ear which allows for great high frequency volume.

Because nothing is physically blocking the ear, it tends to be the most comfortable.  Sounds can be more naturally also.

A custom molded earpiece can be added at any point to keep more sound inside the ear for more serious losses.

These are the smallest custom molded hearing devices available.  They fit inside the ear so far, that they cannot be seen.

These are very small custom hearing devices.  The faceplate of the device sits flush with the opening of the ear canal, making them very difficult to see.

The ITC is sometimes also called a ‘half shell’ style because half of the unit shows in the ear.  They are good for people who want a more discreet option but may find the CIC to be too small.

Because some of the shell sits outside the ear canal, they are also good for those who cannot get retention with anything smaller.

The behind the ear device has all its components (including the speaker) inside the body which sits behind the ear.  A thin open tube alongside the ear moves the sound into an earpiece inside the ear.  Depending on loss, the earpiece can be an open earbud or various types of custom molds (open and closed).
